Baby Shower Cake

This was our first order through kijiji! We posted an ad a couple of weeks ago and just a few days later we had our first official order, which was both exciting and terrifying at the same time; making a cake for a stranger AND charging money for it is pretty stressful.

We're really excited about the finished product, though. I hope the mother-to-be likes it!

Along with the cake, we were asked for a dozen cupcakes, which we topped with cute little baby onesies.

Vampire Goth Cake

A co-worker of mine has a daughter who just turned 19. She is into the dark vampire sub-culture and for her birthday party, she wanted to have a vampire theme, fangs and all.

Sachin and I decided to go for a red velvet cake. What could be better for a vampire fiend than to slice into a cake and have the insides be blood red? The icing is a chocolate hazelnut.

It's decorated with white fondant and black scrolls. I also added black flowers with silver balls and black sugar highlights.

This is a before the party picture... along with the cake went a bottle of fake blood, made from corn syrup and red food dye (Thanks to the movie Scream, I figured out how to make it look real!) to be splashed onto the cake during the party.

We don't have those pictures yet, but as soon as we get them, we'll put them up!

Ladybug Cupcakes

The are moist chocolate cupcakes that we made for an in-school birthday party. The class has a mascot, Canelle la Coccinelle, or Canelle the Ladybug, and the children in the class are each allowed to take the stuffed animal of the mascot home once or twice during the year. They even get a little backpack with her book for bedtime and her toothbrush!

When we heard that Canelle was his class mascot, it seemed like a no-brainer and we made little cupcakes to match. Then I thought it would be cute if two of them were kissing. I kept the kissers for Sachin and I we delivered the rest.

We hope the kids liked them!

Bonne Fête!

This cake was made for my lovely sister-in-law, Stéphanie, for her birthday. It's a chocolate and raspberry cake, like the Thomas & Friends cake we made last week.

It's our first cake to travel a way, too; it was driven to Moncton and served there the next day.

We decided to keep the décor simple and elegant with some funky letters to spruce it up a little.

Bonne fête, Stéphanie!

Thomas & Friends

We were asked to make a cake for the birthday party of a 3-yr-old Thomas & Friends fan. It was the first time making a cake for a child's party so we had fun with it!

The cake is a moist chocolate cake made from scratch with two layers inside each tier. Between the tiers, there is delicious royal icing and raspberries. Then, the whole thing was covered with a home made vanilla butter cream and decorated with fondant.

Thomas rolled around the cake while his friends, the conductor and Harold the Helicopter sat on the cake, enjoying the view.

Our little birthday boy loved it so much, he had to be convinced to let a knife *gasp* cut into it and be eaten.

Spring Flowers

These were just from an afternoon of playing around with fondant. Moist chocolate cupcakes and fondant flowers.

Cake for Raffle!

There was a fundraiser at the office for Multiple Sclerosis, last week. They were hosting a bake sale and Sachin and I decided to prepare a cake and cupcakes.

We made a vanilla cake with vanilla icing and fondant decorations and a batch of matching cupcakes. Sachin also made another batch of cupcakes that were a real hit; chocolate pound cake, dopped into a homemade ginger syrup and drizzled with white chocolate ganache. We'll add photos of those soon!

Support Breast Cancer Research

These were for a friend who is recently underwent a double mastectomy.

If you've got a fundraiser coming up and would like to get some cupcakes, or even a cake, to suit your cause, I can make ribbons in any colour. Pink for breast cancer research, yellow in support of our troops, etc.

Baby Shower Cake

My friend Annaka is about to pop! At her baby shower, I had the privilege to bring a cake. This was only the fourth time I ever made a cake with fondant, but I was really happy with the result.

I had a little design printed on edible paper and placed it on the cake. I also got some pacifier candy to sprinkle on and around it.

School's Out!

So for the last Feature Writing class of the semester, on Monday night, I brought in some cupcakes! These were also marble but with vanilla icing. I sprinkled some with Turtle Crunch and the others with Cookies and Cream Crunch.

They were a hit! :)

Easter Cupcakes

This was our first official order!

They are a yummi marble cupcakes with the same almond buttercream icing that we used for the cake. After icing each cupcake, I added a variety of different fondant Easter eggs on top.

Happy Easter!

This Easter, Sachin and I had the pleasure of going to Aunt Fran's and Uncle Chuck's for Easter dinner. It was absolutely delicious and fantastic to see everyone.

Sachin made this delicious four layer cake. Two layers were a moist chocolate cake and the other two were a yummi coconut cake. Both recipes came from the Barefoot Contessa and were out of this world. The icing we used was an almond buttercream that really tied everything in really well.

It's Graduation time!

If you've got someone special graduating soon, these little cupcakes are perfect! We can accommodate for the school's colour and the graduate's initial.

We are baking!

So Sachin and I have finally decided to kick this off. After making quite the reputation for himself in the kitchen among our friends and family, Sachin will be baking cakes and cupcakes from scratch! I come into the picture to decorate his delicious work and make it look pretty.

We're really excited about putting something together for you to make your big event that much more special. If you have a baby shower, graduation, birthday, anniversary or wedding coming up, think of us.

We don't have a huge portfolio, yet, and we aren't professionals, so our rates are very reasonable. We mainly try to break even on our costs and gauge how long the cakes will take before figuring out how much we charge.

We hope you like what we do!
